My Culture Started in the Kitchen
My Culture Started in The Kitchen is an accordion book created to display the ongoing and intertwined nature of how I learned my culture through food. Rooted in the kitchen as a site of memory, care, and transmission, the project documents phrases, gestures, and shared moments that shaped my understanding of Korean-American identity.

The unfolding format mirrors how culture is passed down—nonlinear, repetitive, and intimate. Through compositional choices, pacing, and imagery, the book frames the act of making, eating, and sharing food as a living practice.
